I have been living in my apartment for more than 2 years my bill has Jumped from $79 to over $400 in a matter of months. I have signed up for e-bill service which apparently doesn't work. At this point my water bill is more than half of what I am paying for rent. This is rediculous.

This company nwp keeps returning my transaction on the online pay so i will be late on rent and pay a $100.00 late fee. They act as if it's my fault. The bank said no funds where attemed to be taken out on that date. This keeps happening! The funds are in there, so why do they keep do this? This company is very questionable. Mission Springs apts

NWP Meter Suddenly Inaccurate

I have been a resident at my apartment complex in Birmingham, AL for over 12 years and in October, 2014 my water/sewer usage more than quadrupled. For all these 13 plus years my usage was around 1300 gallons or less per month. For the past 5 months my usage amount has increased to 2700-**** gallons per month. There are no leaks or running toilets. I have not changed my water usage habits during this time. NWP blames my apartment owner/management. My apartment complex has been nice enough to adjust my bill but it seems no one is taking responsibility for the inaccurate meter readings. Not sure what to do at this point.

My meter was tested, all was ok! It's NWP and their billing calculations that are wrong!

The gutter to my complex is sitting on the ground by the bushes.

The gutter is off the building. The past two weeks I thought my apartment was going to flood. My patio furniture was sitting in a pool of water, sand and dirt is everywhere, and I thought the water was going to come into the apartment. I worry when it is raining when I'm at work! I don't feel safe incase of a hurricane and how can I be protected from flooding? I don't know how often this problem has arisen because I have transplanted from another state. I never had these issues with the last apartment complex I lived in, all I know is when I had a problem or concern they always were spot on because it was their property getting destroyed also! Please take care of this issue A.S.A.P!

Closely approach paying double after NWP took over

With my old apartment and the current one, there was no NWP when I moved in. NWP came later. When I first moved in my current apartment, I was paying around $21 - $23 a month for my portion of the water/garbage/sewage for the first 2 years. Thanks to NWP, I'm now paying $36 for November and it has gone up every month since management started using them about a year ago. I checked and found that I paid $26 for April and now by November, it's $10 more. There is no reason why there should be that much of a change. Some months should be lower or around the same. It has never been lower. It has steadily gone up every month. What gets me about this company is when they send you the notice that their services has been implemented, they make it seem like it is a good thing. As if it benefits the tenants. It doesn't. They're almost saying "Good news! We will make you pay more money than what you were paying before and we will continually charge you more every month at a much faster rate than what you were being charged before. That's great news isn't it? Aren't you happy about that? Well you should be." I'm going to write to the owner of the building to let them know that NWP is not very good for us, the tenants and if they could go back to the way things were before.

NWP habitually overbilled me for water use.

I rented an apartment in Norfolk, VA for almost 3 years. I was no there most weekends and frequently away on business. My water use averaged about 600 gallons/month, and the bills were very low (usually under $20/mo). However, around April 2013, my NWP statement indicated that I had used almost 13,000 gallons during January 2013. It's difficult to use half a swimming pool's worth of water during that length of time. And it is also difficult for a large leak to not be detected by the tenants below me. I noticed that my utility closet had a water submeter, with a transducer and wire leading to a transmitter. I spoke with my leasing office and learned that NWP bills each tenant based on the signal coming from the water submeter. I meticulously recorded my week to week water use and learned that my sub meter is accurate, but also that I had been over billed for quite some time. After subtracting the sub meter reading on the day the previous tenant moved out, and when I moved in, I discovered that not only was the 13,000 bill erroneous, but NWP owed me money!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All attempts to resolve the issue with NWP were met with their standard "we're right and you're wrong no matter what." I have since learned that several other tenants in my building were also experiencing problems and NWP's system of billing customers based on a signal from the sub meter to their server are in fact frequently wrong. My experience with NWP suggests that this company is perefectly happy to overbill customers, and one of their central organizing principles is theft.

Overbilled byh NWP

NWP did the billing for the apartment I just left. I received a water bill in excess of $50 for the final month - when the apartment was empty. My average water bill when living in the apartment was $26! I was told that they "average" your final bill to guestimate your consumption before reading the meter! In other words they bill you for something you did not use. They get you by the throat bc if the bill isnt paid the apartment complex takes it out of the security deposit. NWP are a bunch of crooks working for a bunch of robbers.

NWP National Water and Power Illegal Billing and Price Gouging

My apartment complex, Harbour Run Apartments in Mentor on the Lake, OH is using NWP to commit fraud on the residents. The apartment complex is acting out like a utility in charging us for "voodoo" billing. As they are acting as a utility they need to be approved by the Ohio EPA as a water and sewer utility, which they are not. We receive water and sewer bills that do not reflect actual usages, as there are no meters or any accountability whatsoever. Many residents, especially single elderly residents on fixed incomes receive water/sewer bills of over $50/month. There are no meters and they use 'voodoo" formulas to "guesstimate" how much water they think you use. Complaints have been forwarded to the Ohio EPA and the media and justice soon will prevail. Also a class action law suit is being formed. The Ohio EPA stated that the apartment complex will need to file to become a water and sewer utility in order to "resell" water to its residents. This will entail water monitoring by the State of Ohio EPA. Complaints of wrong water/sewer bills to NWP end up getting "canned" responses and the drones on the phones just read a scripted statement.

I live in CA, same story...ripped off to the tune of $90+ due to their destruction of a check paid for services. It is fraud in the most blatant sense.

Guest

I stopped paying them two years ago. I live at the same complex.

Even the office staff do not care anymore. They cant shut off the water, no individual meters. The whole building would have to be shut off.

I feel bad for office staff as complex in foreclosure and being sold next month. :grin

NWP Services Corporation

Updated by user Jun 20, 2011

NWP replied by email telling me I had to pay the full amount to the apartment where I live because the account was closed to a move out order. Acutally we\'re not moving out, the apartment is closing all the accounts to go with a company that doesn\'t give them so many problems and increase their prices to doubt within 6 months.

Anyway, I emailed them back stating I already spoke with the apt office and they told me to contact them (NWP) to have the charges removed. I printed off all the emails and took them with me to the apt office and she said yes they called and removed the charges. Actually they only removed the 2 x $25 return check fees, not the 2 x $7 late fees they also added on there, but I can\'t be bothered with them anymore, so I wrote a check to the apt office for the balance and I\'m happy we\'re finished with NWP.

If we were actually late I wouldn\'t mind paying late fees, but we weren\'t even close to late - we always paid out bill in plenty of time and our checks were NEVER returned, and they could never prove it although they claimed to be able to do so.

(the lady I spoke to an NWP said she would email me the account number so I check it against my records and she never did). Also due to the fact that many others who use NWP, have had the same issues with them, shows they\'re a company not to be trusted.

NWP Services Corportation www.mynwpsc.com is the company that bills us for water, sewer and garbage in the apartments in which we live. When we moved in, (about 6 months ago) it was around $40 a month and our first bill was around $11 because it was a partial month. We paid it immediately and they sent us a return check free of $25 plus a late fee of $7. We knew the funds were there so we submitted it again and exactly the same thing, another $25 + $7. We contacted the bank and they said that NWP hadn't even attempted to take the funds because the funds were in our account, they would have not rejected anything. We contacted the apartment office and they said alot of residents have had problems with that company, so much so they're leaving that company and going with another one starting in August. In the meantime, the bill keeps going up about $10 every month (another reason they're switching companies), as I said, when we moved in, it was about $40 per month, last month was around $70 and this month around $80. - its increase approx $10 every month. In addition to them ripping people off with return check fees when nothing is being returned. The apartments can't do much about it other than go with a different company which they're doing asap, so we're stuck dealing with NWP until then, and when I call, I get some indian lady who is hard to understand and tells me no supervisor is available. I'm putting in a complaint in writing but in the meantime we've been paying the apartment directly and they're paying via a managers account to NWP. The good thing is, once the switch is made, it will be back to a flat rate of $40 per month and rather than deal with a company, we'll be allow to just add it to our rent each month. If NWP offer you any services, DON'T DO IT. Stay well clear or you're literally PAY the consequences.

my big problem is that i recieve my bill lets say on the 28th and thay give a due date on the first you can never get payment in by the due date then they hit you with a five dollar late charge i called them and they said i could pay it online but there is a charge of 4.95..is this even legal

They installed meters on our hot water supply lines in December 2011 and cannot explain why my bill does not match my meter. Customer NO-service (as Clark Howard says) gives you the run around and drags their feet until you would normally give up. They owe consumers the correct information and it doesn't appear they are getting any better from what I am reading on the web and BBB.

Guest

Our apt complex moved to e- payment only then when we try to pay on line they fefuse payment then we get socked for late paynent. Then what really gets me MAD is they charge you 10 bucks for them to bill you.

NWP is just a big rip off for the consumer.

We live in a complex with mostly older people and 50 to 60% to not even have a computer to pay with. Both NWP and are Apt complex owners don`t really care.

NWP Water and Power

National Water and Power is one of the most unorganized companies I have ever dealt with. First off they don’t even offer ACH payments, (neither does Capital One). So every month I have to go online and pay my bill. This would not matter however logging into my account takes about fifteen minutes because the website can not always read the data (user name and password) you input. The company also charges $2.50 today you’re bill. What a joke. I am saving them money by paying online- this brings down many of there costs- less labor, less paper, less postage, and less printing. So in the end, I can positively say that NWP Water and Power needs new management and improvement
